Natasha Lyonne Teases Potential Third Season of Russian Doll
Natasha Lyonne has provided an intriguing update regarding a potential third season of her acclaimed Netflix series, Russian Doll. Over three years have passed since the second season debuted in April 2022, and discussions about the show’s future had largely quieted. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lyonne revealed that creative plans for a new installment remain alive and well.
In her remarks, Lyonne expressed a desire to emulate the unique storytelling approach of filmmaker David Lynch, specifically referencing his works Fire Walk With Me and Twin Peaks: The Return. “I’m determined to do it Lynch-style,” she stated, emphasizing her commitment to following this artistic model. While she could not provide an exact timeline for when she would approach Netflix with the new season, she assured fans that the project is “incoming” and “in process.”
Lyonne also touched on her busy schedule, which includes multiple ongoing projects. “I get to it between other deadlines,” she explained, highlighting that she is currently managing numerous writing commitments, including a memoir that is also under development. “It’s on my desktop. It’s in Final Draft,” she noted, indicating that she plans to pitch this project as well.
The actress’s playful tone continued as she pondered the timeline for the new season’s release. “I don’t know if that will be in two years, 10 or 20, or 35,” she joked. Lyonne added a whimsical touch, stating her ideal scenario would involve uploading her consciousness into the cloud while preserving her individuality. “As you know, I’ve been quite public about wanting to be a brain in a jar for some time,” she quipped.
In another development, Natasha Lyonne recently shared her decision to exit her other series, Poker Face, after two successful seasons. This shift in focus may allow her to dedicate more time to developing Russian Doll further.
Fans of the series are eagerly awaiting more news as Lyonne navigates her various creative ventures. With her unique vision and commitment to the project, the future of Russian Doll remains a topic of excitement and speculation within the entertainment community.
