Community Mourns the Loss of Ben C. Bolech Sr. at 97

Ben C. Bolech Sr., a beloved member of the Victoria community, passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on November 28, 1928, in Shiner, Texas, he leaves behind a rich legacy of family, faith, and community service.

Ben was married to Marian (Darilek) Bolech for 62 years until her passing. Together, they raised three children: Margaret Rogers, Patricia Boldt (Raymond), and Ben Bolech Jr.. He is also survived by three grandchildren, including Jason Boldt (Shayla), Elizabeth Floyd (Aaron), and Jessica Gray (Brian), and seven great-grandchildren: Avery, Zoe Boldt, Reese, Ryan, and Rawley Floyd, and Will and Cora Gray.

Career and Community Involvement

After completing high school, Ben moved to Victoria, where he dedicated 43 years of his life to his career. He worked for Groce Wearden for 33 years and later joined Scrivener Grocery Distribution for an additional decade. Throughout his life, he remained active in his local church, serving as a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for nearly 75 years. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus Council 1329, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Ben was known for his commitment to his faith, frequently attending mass and engaging with his church community. He enjoyed solving the world’s problems over coffee with friends and spent cherished time at his ranch tending to cattle. His hobbies included woodworking, whittling, and relaxing on the back porch while listening to birds. He also took pleasure in driving back roads and attending various Catholic church festivals and picnics in the area. An avid sports fan, Ben was particularly fond of watching the Dallas Cowboys.

Legacy and Acknowledgments

Ben’s passing marks a significant loss for his family and the many friends he made throughout his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marian, and his daughter Margaret. His family reflects on the inspiration he provided and the values he instilled in them.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and staff at Citizens Hospital for their compassionate care, as well as the staff at Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center of Compassion.
