Jeffrey Neil Osecky, known affectionately as “Jeff” and “Otis,” passed away on December 31, 2025, after a prolonged illness. He was 67 years old. A resident of Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania, Osecky is remembered for the strength and love he shared with everyone he encountered throughout his life.

Born on November 17, 1958, in Bradford, Pennsylvania, Osecky was the son of the late Stanley and Jean Osecky. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Osecky. Over the years, Jeff worked at Davis and Lynch Glass and spent significant time at Ruby Memorial Hospital in the Facilities Department, where he developed lasting friendships.

Throughout his life, Osecky was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, often enjoying games and gatherings with friends to play cards. His greatest joy, however, came from his relationship with his son, Jeffrey “Jeffy” H. Osecky. Jeff often expressed that the birth of Jeffy fulfilled all his dreams, stating he did not need anything more from life. In his final days, Jeffy remained by his father’s side, providing comfort and support.

Family and Community Support

Osecky’s passing was marked by the presence of his surviving siblings and nephew, including Todd Osecky and his wife, Sandy, as well as Chuck Osecky and his wife, Pam. His fiancée, Haylie Trapp, and his mother, Billie Jo “BJ” Tennant, were also by his side. Jeff and BJ were married for over 30 years, and she played a crucial role as his caregiver during his last year, ensuring he had everything he needed.

In addition to his immediate family, Osecky is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Kristopher Osecky and his wife, Chelsea, and Matthew, Dillon, Reagan, and Charlie Osecky. The family expressed their gratitude to the hospice nurses, particularly Mindy and Danica, who provided care during his final moments. Danica was present with the family when Jeff passed away at 13:19 on December 31, 2025.

Honoring His Memory

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Osecky’s memory to the Mt. Morris Fire Department, located at P.O. Box 599, Mt. Morris, PA 15349. A graveside committal service is scheduled for 13:00 on January 5, 2026, at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Mt. Morris. The family has chosen not to hold a public funeral or visitation.

Smith Funeral & Cremation Care of Westover is providing professional services to the family during this difficult time. Condolences may be offered through their website at www.smithfcc.com. The community mourns the loss of Jeffrey Neil Osecky, who touched many lives with his kindness and spirit.
