During a lively ceremony on January 12, 2024, prior to the boys’ basketball game against Ava, senior Madison Meier was crowned the Houston High School 2026 Hoop Queen. The event took place at the Tiger Fieldhouse, where excitement filled the air as students, families, and fans gathered to celebrate.

In addition to Meier’s crowning, the ceremony recognized Claire Benoist as the first runner-up and Macy Hebblethwaite as the second runner-up. Each candidate participated in the event alongside their escorts, showcasing school spirit and community support.

Celebrating School Spirit and Community Engagement

The crowning of the Hoop Queen is a cherished tradition at Houston High School, symbolizing not only school pride but also the close-knit community surrounding the institution. During the ceremony, each contestant was introduced alongside their escort, adding a personal touch to the festivities.

Among the participants were freshman Lillee Weaver, escorted by Griffin Aaron, and freshman Rhiannon Collins, who walked with Dillon Shelton. Sophomore candidates included Sarah Femia Calle with Karson McCain and Claire Benoist alongside Hudson Volk.

Juniors Carissa Creek and Sage Parsons also participated, with escorts Gavin Derrick and Caden Guerra, respectively. The ceremony highlighted each student’s unique contributions to the school, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie.
