Pine Tree and Spring Hill Students Shine in All-State Band

Students from Pine Tree High School and Spring Hill High School recently showcased their musical talents by performing with the prestigious 2026 Texas All-State Symphonic Band. This achievement follows a rigorous audition process that included multiple competitive stages at the district, region, and area levels.

Among the selected musicians, Logan Blondrage from Pine Tree and Sunny Kim from Spring Hill both earned their spots playing the clarinet. This marks Blondrage’s second appearance with a Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State organization, highlighting his continued dedication to music excellence.

Achieving a position in the All-State concerts is considered the highest honor for music students in Texas. School officials noted that the audition process begins with approximately 60,000 students statewide, competing for a limited number of spots in one of the 18 ensembles. Ultimately, only 1,830 students are chosen, representing the top 3% of participants.

The selected musicians gathered for four days of intensive rehearsals during the TMEA Clinic/Convention before their performance. The All-State Symphonic Band took the stage on February 4, 2026, at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, showcasing the culmination of their hard work and talent.

Agriculture Students Recognized at Fort Worth Event

In addition to musical achievements, two East Texas students received accolades at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo on February 5, 2026. Savannah Isgitt, a member of the Hallsville FFA, was awarded a $500 Calf Scramble purchase certificate, sponsored by Coleman Livestock Auction. Similarly, Ryan McGuire, representing the Marshall FFA, also earned a $500 Calf Scramble purchase certificate, with support from Thornton Cattle Co..

The stock show features 23 rodeo performances, with 20 students competing for the chance to catch one of 10 calves. Those who excel in the Calf Scramble and successfully exhibit their heifer at the 2027 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo will be eligible for scholarships ranging from $500 to $16,000.

These accomplishments reflect the dedication and talent of students in East Texas, celebrating both musical and agricultural pursuits.
