New Survey of Magellanic Clouds Aims to Uncover Galactic Secrets
A new five-year survey focusing on the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds will provide insights into these unique galaxies. The initiative, led by the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam (AIP), aims to deepen the understanding of these irregular dwarf galaxies, which are important satellites of the Milky Way.
The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is located approximately 163,000 light-years from Earth, while the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) is about 206,000 light-years away.
