The Alabama Crimson Tide football team has bolstered its offensive line by acquiring former Texas Longhorns offensive lineman Nick Brooks. Announcing his commitment via social media on March 7, 2025, Brooks joins another transfer, former Cal Poly center Racin Dalgatty, as part of Alabama’s ongoing effort to reinforce its roster ahead of the upcoming season.

Standing at an impressive 6 feet 7 inches and weighing 349 pounds, Brooks brings significant size to Alabama’s offensive line. He played in five games for Texas last season, showcasing versatility by starting as a right tackle in his debut against Sam Houston and later transitioning to left guard for matchups against teams like Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Mississippi State. With three seasons of eligibility remaining, Brooks aims to make a substantial impact at the University of Alabama.

The Crimson Tide’s offensive line faced considerable challenges as the team lost all but one starter from the previous season. Key players such as Kam Dewberry, Jaeden Roberts, and Geno VanDeMark have exhausted their eligibility, while Kadyn Proctor and Parker Brailsford opted for the NFL Draft. Additionally, Wilkin Formby has transferred to Texas A&M, placing further strain on the team’s depth.

In light of these departures, Brooks’s addition is timely. He is part of a series of transfers that includes Kaden Strayhorn, who previously played at Michigan, showcasing Alabama’s proactive approach to filling critical gaps in their lineup. The current transfer portal entry window, which began immediately after Alabama’s disappointing 38-3 loss to Indiana in the 2025 season finale, is set to close at 11 p.m. CT on Friday.

As the Crimson Tide prepares for the next season, Brooks’s experience in the SEC and his high school pedigree as a four-star recruit—ranked as the No. 25 offensive tackle in the 2025 class by 247Sports—positions him as a valuable asset. His transition to Alabama is part of a broader strategy to enhance the team’s performance and competitiveness in the challenging landscape of college football.

In summary, with Brooks and Dalgatty joining the ranks, Alabama is actively working to fortify its offensive line, addressing an area of urgent need as it looks ahead to the next season in pursuit of excellence on the field.
