Eagles Coach Sirianni Commits to Offensive Coordinator Patullo

PHILADELPHIA — Following a disappointing performance against the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed that offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo will continue as the team’s play caller. Sirianni stated he has not considered making any changes to the coaching staff.

In a press conference on Monday, Sirianni emphasized the importance of collaboration in analyzing the team’s performance. “As coaches, we’re always looking for answers and we’re never into assigning blame,” he said. He acknowledged that the team’s struggles stem from multiple factors, including coaching, player execution, and strategy. “We’ve got to be better in all of those aspects,” he added.

The Eagles built a promising 21-point lead in their game against the Cowboys on Sunday, only to fail to score for the remainder of the match. They punted five times, missed a field goal, and turned the ball over during their final eight possessions. Ultimately, the Cowboys scored 24 unanswered points, leading to a 24-21 upset victory over Philadelphia.

Despite perceptions that the Eagles may have become complacent after their early lead, Sirianni rejected this view. “To go up 21-0 … you’re trying to do everything you can to go up 28-0,” he explained. “I felt like we were aggressive all game.” He noted that while execution and play calling were strong in the first half, they faltered later on.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts also commented on the need for improvement. “Overarching, we’ve got to find a way to finish the game, and we’ve got to find some consistency in what we do,” Hurts remarked. He characterized the game as “a tale of two halves,” highlighting the team’s failure to play a complete game.

As the Eagles prepare for their upcoming matchup against the Chicago Bears on Friday, they face additional challenges. Rookie safety Andrew Mukuba sustained a fractured ankle during the game against the Cowboys and will require surgery. Sirianni indicated that Mukuba will be out for an extended period, although a specific timeline for his recovery remains uncertain. “I’ll never put a timetable on a guy,” Sirianni said. “We have good options there,” he added, mentioning players like Michael Carter II and Sydney Brown as potential replacements.

The status of cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, who is currently in concussion protocol, is unclear. Meanwhile, safety Reed Blankenship, who has been dealing with a thigh injury, is expected to participate in the game against the Bears.
