Giants’ Jaxson Dart Faces Injury Concerns Amidst Losing Streak

The injury occurred late in the fourth quarter while Dart attempted to score a touchdown on a first-and-goal play from the one-yard line, where he was tackled by defensive tackles Eddie Goldman and Javon Kinlaw of the Commanders.

Dart temporarily left the field while backup Jameis Winston took over. After passing the concussion evaluation, Dart returned but failed to complete a pass on fourth down, resulting in the Giants being unable to score. Post-game, he expressed confusion about the necessity of leaving the game, stating, “You don’t just see people getting taken out of the game like that. I definitely feel like there’s a sensitivity for some reason.” He elaborated, “I tried to get back to the line of scrimmage. I’m not really sure what the reason was I had to come out of the game. It was just weird, I don’t understand it.”

Giants beat reporter Dan Duggan noted on social media that he has “never seen a player get pulled for a concussion check anywhere near this frequently.” He suggested that Dart might need to adjust how he reacts after being hit, as his responses seem to trigger alarms for referees and spotters.

Despite Dart’s performance of completing 20 of 26 passes for 246 yards, including two touchdowns and one interception, he has faced criticism for his aggressive playing style. This scrutiny has included commentary from former Giants quarterback Eli Manning during a recent episode of ‘Manningcast.’

Giants head coach Mike Kafka, who played with Manning during his career, addressed the team’s strategy and Dart’s playing style. He stated, “We’re not gonna change much in terms of how we play the game,” emphasizing the need for Dart to balance making plays with protecting himself. “He knows when he needs to protect himself and when he needs to go make a play. I trust him to do that,” Kafka added, reassuring that his team is confident in Dart’s decision-making.
