Schuylkill Haven Boys Triumph Over Williams Valley in League Clash

The Schuylkill Haven boys’ basketball team achieved a significant victory over Williams Valley, finishing the game with a score of 54-46 in a Division II league matchup. Alan Evans spearheaded the effort for Schuylkill Haven, contributing 18 points to secure the win. His teammates, Justin Watcher and Max Heim, each added 10 points, demonstrating a well-rounded team performance.

In the same weekend, the girls’ basketball teams also showcased competitive play across various matchups.

Girls’ Basketball Highlights

Lehigh Valley Academy triumphed over Nativity with a convincing score of 46-28 in Pottsville. Emmalee Pinkey led Nativity with 15 points, while Macie Russhannon contributed 11 points in the loss. For Lehigh Valley Academy, Madalyn Hothouse topped the scoring with 13 points, and Jayleigh Gillmeyer added 11 points.

Weatherly earned a strong victory against MMI, finishing 31-12. Alexia Kehler led the Wreckers with 12 points, followed by Maci Kane with 6 points and Abby Weston with 5 points. MMI’s Anna Drobniock was the standout scorer for her team, securing 9 points.

In a closely contested match, Shenandoah Valley narrowly defeated Minersville 38-35. Litzy Salguero led her team with 10 points, supported by Aubrie Monaghan with 9 points. Minersville’s Sara McGrath topped all scorers with 13 points.

Lehighton faced Tamaqua and emerged victorious, winning 51-40. Lauren Ligenza achieved a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Leah Black also had a notable performance with 7 points and 10 rebounds, while Millie Black contributed 8 points for Tamaqua.

In addition to Schuylkill Haven’s victory, Nativity’s Trey Keating delivered an impressive performance against Susquehanna Community, scoring an extraordinary 42 points in a non-league road win of 64-54. Keating also led his team with 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals. Layne Pasker added 10 points for Nativity, while Griffin Fisk led Susquehanna with 22 points.

Lehighton continued its strong season with a resounding win over Tamaqua, finishing 67-22. Cole Dietz was the top scorer with 22 points, while Aiden Solt and Blake Roberts contributed 12 points and 11 points, respectively. Tamaqua struggled offensively, with Jakin Tamagini leading the team with only 5 points.

Lourdes secured a decisive victory against Millville, with a final score of 69-37. Brighton Scicchitano led Lourdes with 16 points, followed closely by Gaven Renn with 14 points and Trebor Erb with 12 points. Millville’s Lucks Dildine managed to score 9 points in the loss.

Mahanoy Area also achieved a comfortable win against Pen Argyl, ending the contest at 48-25. Ryan Zilker was a standout player, scoring 26 points, while Connor Bowman added 21 points for Mahanoy Area. Pen Argyl’s Blake Hendershot led his team with 16 points.
