Fishtown Woman Reunited with Engagement Ring After Pawn Shop Discovery

URGENT UPDATE: A woman from Fishtown, Casey Corradin, has been joyfully reunited with her engagement ring less than two months before her wedding, after it was discovered at a pawn shop. The unique black diamond ring went missing on February 19, 2023, during a car wash visit in Brandywine Hundred, Delaware, and was later identified by a local jeweler.

Corradin had taken off her ring to apply hand sanitizer while in her car and placed it in the cup holder. Upon returning from a brief absence, she discovered it missing. “I was like my ring’s missing, my ring’s missing,” Corradin recounted, noting that her engagement ring was the only piece gone from a collection of three rings in her cup holder.

After realizing the ring was gone, Corradin immediately contacted the police. Officers conducted a thorough search of the car wash, including reviewing surveillance footage, but found no evidence of theft. “I blamed myself so much because had I not taken my ring off, I could have prevented all of this,” Corradin expressed, feeling guilt over the loss.

Desperate for a solution, Corradin took to TikTok to share her story, while her father, Paul Corradin, began visiting local pawn shops, distributing flyers that featured a description and image of the ring. “I thought one of two things was going to happen: it’s either going to end up on a girlfriend’s finger or two, they’re going to try to sell it,” he said.

On Monday, a breakthrough occurred when the owner of Levy’s Jewelers in Wilmington, Antonio Farrace, recognized the ring from the flyers. “I just noticed it was the exact ring with the description and picture that was on it,” Farrace stated. He promptly followed store policy by notifying the police, and the individual who attempted to sell the ring remained at the shop to assist with the investigation.

Farrace confirmed that the man who brought in the ring claimed he found it in the trash. “The person who brought it in was very helpful. He just said that he had found it in the trash,” Farrace reported. Paul Corradin expressed immense gratitude towards the pawn shop staff and the police for their roles in the ring’s return.

Reflecting on the emotional rollercoaster, Casey Corradin stated, “No matter what, we’re always going to be able to find our way back because this was a zero percent chance.” As of now, no charges have been filed against the individual who brought in the ring.
