Free Youth Event in Central Park Kicks Off NYC Marathon Festivities

URGENT UPDATE: The New York Road Runners launched the marathon festivities today with a vibrant youth event in Central Park, drawing over 2,500 young runners aged 2 to 18. This free event, held just south of West 67th Street, is a thrilling kickoff to the highly anticipated TCS New York City Marathon, set for next Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Participants raced in a series of dashes and engaging activities, creating a lively atmosphere for families. Many of the attendees are involved in the Rising New York Road Runners program, which supports 200,000 students nationwide, including a staggering 100,000 in New York City alone.

This event is not just a race; it’s a celebration of community and youth engagement in athletics. The New York Road Runners organization is committed to fostering a love for running among young people and hosts over 20 free youth events annually.
