Three residents from Shelby County, Tennessee, have achieved significant lottery wins, enhancing their holiday season. One individual matched five out of six Powerball numbers, securing a remarkable prize of $1 million. The winning ticket was purchased at the Food Mart located on Quince Road in Memphis, according to reports from Action News 5.

In addition to the million-dollar win, two other Shelby County residents received substantial prizes. One winner from Memphis earned $100,000 by matching four numbers along with the Powerball, utilizing the Power Play feature. This ticket was sold at the All in One Shelby on East Shelby Drive. Meanwhile, in Germantown, another player won $50,000 by matching four out of five numbers plus the Powerball in the Double Play drawing. This ticket was purchased at Fast Gas on Poplar Avenue, as reported by WREG.

Rising Interest in Powerball

These local wins come just before the next Powerball drawing, where the jackpot has surged to an impressive $1.7 billion, marking it as the fourth-largest jackpot in U.S. history. The drawing held on December 24, 2023, did not yield a top winner, further increasing the prize for future draws. The escalating jackpot has sparked heightened interest and participation among lottery players across the nation.

The numbers drawn in the recent Powerball drawing were 3, 18, 36, 41, 54, with the Powerball being 7, as reported by FOX13 Memphis. Following the announcements of these winnings and the growing jackpot, ticket sales at local vendors have seen a notable increase. With the next drawing approaching on Christmas Eve, the excitement among players is palpable, as many hope to join the ranks of recent winners.
