Former Miss Russia Describes Abduction and Assault Attempt in Bali

A former beauty queen, Anna Linnikova, has reported that she was abducted and faced an attempted sexual assault while vacationing on the Indonesian island of Bali. The 25-year-old, who was crowned Miss Russia 2022 and previously competed in the Miss Universe pageant, detailed her harrowing experience in a recent statement.

Linnikova claims that during her stay, she was approached by a man, described as 6 feet 7 inches tall, at a cocktail event. Following their interaction, he allegedly took her phone and insisted she could only retrieve it at his villa. Once there, she alleges that he detained her and attempted to assault her.

In her own words, Linnikova stated, “This man kept me at his villa. He took my phone and tried to **** me, there’s no other way to put it.” After managing to escape, she spent an entire day providing statements to local police. Linnikova is optimistic about legal repercussions for her assailant, noting, “The laws on domestic violence are quite strict. Women are very well protected here.” She expressed hope that the man may face deportation or imprisonment as a result of his actions.

Reflecting on her escape, she admitted, “I don’t even know myself. He got fed up with pushing himself on me at some point.” Linnikova has not disclosed the suspect’s nationality but clarified that he was not Indonesian.

Linnikova pointed out that many women suffer from violence, stating, “A wild number of women are dying in our country from assault.” She emphasized that such cases are not isolated, as many of her friends have also experienced similar violations.

Through her social media platform, where she has over 110,000 followers, Linnikova discussed the psychological impact of her ordeal, noting, “Nothing happened in the end, but it affected me a lot psychologically.” She expressed her frustration with societal perceptions, stating, “I’m looked at as if I were a piece of meat since I was 17, while I have an education, am well-mannered, and a well-rounded woman.” Linnikova’s experience sheds light on the pervasive issues of abuse faced by women and the urgent need for stronger protections and societal change.
