Lynn I. Pillsbury, Beloved Community Member, Passes Away at 79

Lynn I. Pillsbury, a cherished member of the Santa Cruz community, passed away on December 2, 2025, after a prolonged battle with kidney failure. She was surrounded by her daughter and niece during her final moments. Lynn was born in 1946 and spent her early years in Santa Cruz before moving to northern California, where she lived in Burney and Anderson for the past two decades.

Career and Passion for Animals

Lynn dedicated 23 years of her career to the E.V. Moceo Co., contributing significantly to the organization. Her love for animals, particularly horses, was a defining aspect of her life. Lynn was actively engaged in activities that showcased her passion, whether through volunteer work or personal pursuits involving animals.

In addition to her love for animals, Lynn enjoyed expressing her creativity through art and had a fondness for movies. She occasionally visited the local casino where she had also worked in Burney, finding joy in both the thrill of chance and the camaraderie it offered.

Survived by Family and Friends

Lynn leaves behind a loving family, including her two daughters, Marcie Wood of Santa Cruz and Nancie Avila of Anderson. Her legacy continues through her grandsons, Richard Wood III of Santa Cruz and Jacob Avila of Anderson, as well as her brother, Stan Pillsbury, and sister, Arlene Blanton, both of Santa Cruz. Lynn is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will miss her deeply.

A celebration of Lynn’s life is scheduled for January 10, 2025, at the Harvey West Clubhouse in Santa Cruz. The event will take place from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM, providing an opportunity for friends and family to honor her memory together.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to pay tribute to Lynn are encouraged to consider planting a living memorial in her memory, reflecting her deep love for nature and the life she cherished.
