Jason Momoa Hails Timothée Chalamet’s Performance in Dune 3
Timothée Chalamet’s performance in the upcoming film Dune 3 has garnered significant praise from his co-star Jason Momoa. Following his nomination for Best Actor at the 2026 Oscars for his role in *Marty Supreme*, Chalamet is set to impress audiences yet again in the latest installment of Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed sci-fi series.
Momoa, who reprises his role as Duncan Idaho despite his character’s fate in the first film, expressed high expectations for Chalamet’s portrayal. In an interview with Flip Your Wig, he stated, “Wait until you see him in Dune 3. Maybe some of the best stuff I’ve seen him do – ever. I’m serious. Tape this interview, write this down, I don’t give a fuck.” His passionate endorsement sets a high bar for Chalamet’s upcoming performance.
Chalamet himself has shared insights into his character’s development in the third installment. Speaking to GamesRadar+, he indicated that he will be “playing older” and portraying someone deeply affected by the burdens of leadership. He noted that this film will focus on Paul Atreides navigating the complexities of his role, as the narrative draws from Frank Herbert’s novel *Dune: Messiah*.
The anticipation surrounding Dune 3 is heightened by its scheduled release on December 18, 2026, which will coincide with the premiere of Avengers: Doomsday. This date has been playfully dubbed “Dunesday” by actor Robert Downey Jr., adding to the buzz surrounding both films.
In addition to Momoa and Chalamet, Dune 3 features an impressive ensemble cast, including Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson, Josh Brolin, and Rebecca Ferguson. With such a stellar lineup and the visionary direction of Villeneuve, expectations are high for this epic continuation of the saga.
As fans eagerly await the release, conversations about the film’s creative direction and the challenges of adapting Herbert’s work continue to unfold. Chalamet emphasized the collaborative nature of the project, crediting Villeneuve for his insightful approach to the narrative. “Denis’ been so incredibly spot on about realizing the challenge,” he remarked, alluding to the intricate discussions that shaped the film’s development.
With both critical acclaim and commercial competition on the horizon, Dune 3 promises to be a highlight of the 2026 film calendar. As the release date approaches, viewers can anticipate a cinematic experience that not only builds on its predecessors but also showcases the talent of its leading performances.
