No. 16 Randolph achieved a commanding victory over Morris Knolls, clinching the North 1, Group B championship for the second consecutive year. The finals, held at Passaic County Tech in Wayne, saw Randolph overpower the second-seeded Morris Knolls with a score of 105-65. This marked Randolph’s second triumph over Morris Knolls this season, having previously defeated them on December 18.

Randolph’s team showcased remarkable talent, winning eight out of eleven events during the competition. Senior swimmer Sydney Wright and sophomore standout Julianna Young were instrumental in the team’s success, each securing victories in two events. Wright excelled in the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle races, while Young triumphed in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke. The Rams also celebrated victories from teammates Ashley McDonnell, Reese Nelson, and Alivia Wright, along with wins in both the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays.

On the opposing side, Morris Knolls’ Morgan Mindrebo distinguished herself by winning the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard individual medley. Additionally, Morris Knolls secured victory in the 200-yard medley relay.

Looking ahead, Randolph will face another familiar opponent in the Public B semifinal. The team is set to meet the top-seeded Chatham on February 19 at Gloucester County Tech. This upcoming match is a rematch of last year’s semifinal, where Chatham, a two-time defending Public B state champion, handed Randolph its only dual meet loss of the season on December 10.

The victory at the North 1, Group B finals not only demonstrates Randolph’s strength in the pool but also sets the stage for a highly anticipated showdown against Chatham. As the season progresses, Randolph aims to continue its winning momentum and build on its recent achievements.
