The controversial moment occurred with approximately ten minutes left in the third period, shortly after Saunders transitioned the broadcast to a commercial. Initially, silence filled the air, interrupted only by Saunders seemingly singing to himself. He then made a lewd remark, asking, “While you’re down there, would you mind b***ing me?” Color commentator Todd Fedoruk quickly pointed out, “I think we’re still on the air, Tim,” to which Saunders responded with laughter, questioning if they were indeed still broadcasting.
