Val Chmerkovskiy Hospitalized, Cancels ‘DWTS Live Tour’ Performance
Val Chmerkovskiy, the renowned professional dancer from *Dancing With the Stars*, had to miss a scheduled performance on March 1, 2024, in Peoria, Illinois, after being hospitalized due to vertigo. The 39-year-old dancer informed fans via Instagram about his condition, explaining that he had been experiencing severe symptoms that necessitated medical attention.
In his social media post, Chmerkovskiy expressed his disappointment to fans who attended the event. “My apologies to all the fans that came out to see us today in Peoria. Thank you to my fellow castmates for rallying,” he wrote, sharing a selfie from his hospital bed. He reassured his supporters, stating, “Little bump in the road I’ll be good to go asap. It takes quite literally me not being able to stand on my feet to keep me off that stage. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t make it tonight.”
Chmerkovskiy elaborated further on his health issues in a video he posted, where he acknowledged the challenges posed by vertigo. “I’ve just been having vertigo for the past couple of days and had it yesterday,” he stated. He noted that he was able to perform the previous day, but after undergoing tests, he realized that his condition was more severe.
To clarify his situation, he explained, “Once that little crystal in your equilibrium goes out, it’s really hard to get it back in. I’m just spinning everywhere.” The dancer shared that the movement of the tour bus exacerbated his symptoms, making it difficult for him to regain his balance.
Chmerkovskiy remains hopeful for a quick recovery, indicating he might be back in action soon. “Hopefully tomorrow’s a day off, and I’ll be back on Tuesday,” he added. The *DWTS Live Tour* is set to continue through May, with additional performances scheduled across various locations.
In a separate announcement, it was revealed that *Dancing With the Stars* will host its first-ever fan convention, further engaging its audience and celebrating the show’s legacy. Fans can look forward to this exciting development in addition to the ongoing tour.
