The Mohawk Valley Community College Foundation held a celebratory event on January 13, 2026, recognizing the outstanding achievements of its alumni. During the ceremony, the foundation presented the prestigious Alumni of Merit Award, Distinguished Alumni Award, and Young Alumni Award to three distinguished recipients who exemplify the values and mission of the college.

Nicholas Mayhew, a graduate from the class of 1981, received the 2026 MVCC Alumni of Merit Award. This award is given annually to an individual whose contributions have significantly enhanced the community, supported the college, and demonstrated professional leadership. Mayhew’s efforts align closely with MVCC’s mission of fostering student success and community involvement.

The 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to Tressa LaBella, a four-time graduate of MVCC. This accolade is reserved for alumni who graduated at least ten years prior and have made notable contributions to their respective fields. LaBella has shown a lifelong commitment to the values upheld by MVCC, making her a deserving recipient of this honor.

Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of the 2026 MVCC Young Alumni Award to Nazaria D. DeLoach, who graduated in 2020. As the owner and operator of Dreamer Studios, DeLoach has quickly established herself as a leader in her profession and community. This award recognizes young alumni who have emerged as early leaders and remain dedicated to the principles of MVCC.

The event celebrated not only individual achievements but also the impact these alumni have had on the community and the college’s legacy. By honoring these recipients, the Mohawk Valley Community College Foundation highlights the importance of alumni engagement and the ongoing relationship between graduates and their alma mater.

As the foundation continues to recognize the efforts of its alumni, it reinforces the vital role that education and community service play in shaping successful careers and fostering a sense of belonging. The stories of Mayhew, LaBella, and DeLoach serve as inspirations to current students and future graduates of Mohawk Valley Community College.
