Carol Stent, Beloved Wife and Advocate, Passes Away at 86

Carol A. Stent peacefully passed away in her sleep on September 22, 2025, at her home in Overton, Nevada, alongside her husband, David Y. Nakahara Esq.. She was 86 years old. Born on July 14, 1939, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to parents John and Jenny (Slajinsky) Prespolis, Carol’s life was marked by adventure, resilience, and a deep love for family and animals.

Early Life and Education

Carol graduated in the Class of 1957 from Saint Mary’s of the Annunciation (SMA), forming lifelong friendships with her classmates and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. She was the eldest of seven siblings, which included three brothers and three sisters. Her thirst for adventure led her to San Francisco, California, where she and four classmates embarked on their careers, ultimately finding love and companionship.

After her time in San Francisco, Carol moved to Los Angeles, where she met Raymond Michael Stent, a medical intern from England. Their romance blossomed while he was completing his residency at U.C.L.A.. The couple married at the iconic Wayfarers Chapel. Their union, however, ended in divorce in the 1980s.

A Life of Love and Service

In 1989, Carol found happiness again when she married David Nakahara in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 20. Together, they nurtured a family of 17 pets throughout their life, demonstrating Carol’s passionate love for animals and commitment to family. Carol played a crucial role in supporting David as he cared for his aging parents, providing them with guidance and emotional support while navigating her recovery from a stroke that left her partially paralyzed.

Throughout her life, Carol was known for her vibrant personality and unwavering spirit. She radiated warmth and wit, often bringing joy to those around her. Her passion for life was evident in her love for all creatures, great and small. Carol’s legacy is defined by her compassion, resilience, and dedication to her loved ones.

Carol A. Stent is survived by her husband, David, and her sisters, Paula Couture of Dracut, Massachusetts, and Naples, Florida; Janet Buchino of Randolph, Massachusetts, and Naples, Florida; and Helen Botehlo of Conway, South Carolina. A devoted wife, sister, and friend, her impact on those who knew her will be cherished forever.
