The Classic Plastics Toy and Comic Expo made its much-anticipated return to the Parkersburg Arts Center in West Virginia, attracting a diverse crowd of collectors and pop culture enthusiasts. Organized by the team behind Classic Plastics Toy Store, the event featured a wide variety of items, including both new and vintage toys, collectibles, and memorabilia that cater to nearly every type of fan.

According to Becky Ferrell, a representative of Classic Plastics Toy Store, attendees had the opportunity to explore over 70 tables filled with merchandise, including popular items from franchises such as Transformers, Star Wars, Marvel, and DC. The expo, which has been held annually since 2014, typically draws between 800 and 1,000 visitors, showcasing the strong interest in collectibles within the community.

Ferrell highlighted the unique nature of this event, especially for residents of the Mid-Ohio Valley region. “We don’t have a lot here, so it’s good to have such events,” said Connor Walker, a vendor at the expo. He emphasized that collectors often have to travel several hours to find similar events, making the expo a valuable local resource.

The atmosphere of the expo encouraged community engagement and nostalgia. Ferrell noted that attendees ranged from young children to seniors, many of whom relived cherished memories as they rediscovered toys from their childhood. “It’s really fun to watch,” she remarked. “People often say, ‘I used to have this,’ and they introduce it to their kids or grandkids.”

The Classic Plastics Toy and Comic Expo not only serves as a marketplace for collectors but also fosters a sense of community among attendees. Walker observed that the event helps bring together local fans who may not frequently discuss their interests. “You get to know everyone and kind of bring the community together with it,” he added.

As the expo continues to grow in popularity, it remains a significant event for collectors and pop culture fans in the area, offering them a rare opportunity to connect over shared interests and explore a diverse array of collectibles.
